This article explores best practices and precautions when removing a helmet in an emergency situation\u2014an essential skill for first responders as well as bystanders at the scene of an accident.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context and importance of safe helmet removal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During an accident involving a cyclist or motorcyclist, the helmet must be removed carefully to avoid aggravating any <strong>cervical injuries<\/strong> or <strong>head trauma<\/strong>. Improper removal can cause irreversible damage to the spine. It is crucial to know the appropriate techniques: stabilise the head and neck, involve two people if possible, and remove the helmet slowly while maintaining cervical spine alignment. This encourages cooperation and prevents sudden movements that could worsen their injuries.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Techniques for safe helmet removal<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A helmet must be removed with <strong>extreme caution<\/strong> to avoid aggravating any cervical injuries.
