A fire evacuation exercise is an essential step in testing the effectiveness of the evacuation plan, measuring the responsiveness of staff and identifying areas for improvement. SafetyFirst organises realistic simulations tailored to your company's specific requirements in order to optimise your risk management and guarantee the safety of your employees in the event of an emergency.
Exercise procedure
Before the exercise is launched, a reminder of procedures and precautions can be given to the teams in charge of the evacuation. Then, a tailor-made evacuation scenario is set up in collaboration with your company. This exercise may include:
✅ Smoke simulation in one or more premises, with a visible or non-visible fire start*
✅ Obstacles on evacuation routes to test the adaptability and decision-making of staff
✅ Impassable emergency exits./strong> in order to assess the management of alternative routes
✅ Simulated victims requiring specific care and appropriate support./strong> and appropriate support
✅ Coordination with external services (fire brigade, ambulance service, police, security service....)**
✅ Specific scenarios for sensitive establishments (hospitals, EMS, crèches, psychiatric units...)
These exercises assess the fluency of the evacuation, the management of unforeseen events and the ability of teams to adapt to realistic situations.
Observation and analysis
During the exercise, our fire safety experts position themselves at strategic points in the building to observe:
✔ The reactions and behaviours of the evacuation managers and employees
✔ The compliance with internal procedures and safety instructions
✔ The reaction times.Reaction times between alert and actual evacuation
✔ The choice of escape routes and means of intervention used
✔ The effectiveness of safety devices: alarms, fire doors, smoke extraction, emergency lighting, etc.
✔ The accessibility of evacuation routes and the management of refuge areas
An immediate debriefing is carried out with the evacuation managers to analyse the strong points and areas for improvement. A detailed report is then sent, listing all the observations and recommendations.
Practical information
📍 Duration: Varies depending on the site (100% practical)
📍 Pre-requisites: None
📍 Public concerned: All company employees
📍 Location: Intervention directly on your site
📍 Intervenor: Expert in evacuation and fire safety
📍 Attestation:
✔ Official exercise certificate for the company
✔ Detailed report sent after the intervention

⚠ Technical precautions
🔹 Smoke simulation may activate fire detectors. We do not deactivate these devices, but putting the fire control panel in "TEST" mode may be considered during the exercise. The presence of a approved technician (internal or external) is recommended to ensure that the system operates correctly after the intervention.
🔹 The intervention of the emergency services (fire brigade, ambulance service, police...) depends on their availability and prior agreement.
