Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants should be able to:
- Ensure their own safety,
- Manage conscious or unconscious casualties,
- Recognise emergencies and activate the necessary alerts,
- Apply basic life support (BLS) techniques or monitor the casualty while waiting for emergency services or medical attention.
Course content
This programme, which combines theory and practical training, focuses on accident prevention and the anatomical specificities of children. It teaches techniques for assessing consciousness, activating alerts (informing parents or emergency services) and using appropriate approaches to assist children and adults. Participants will learn how to:
- Place a casualty in the recovery position,
- Recognise the signs of cardiac arrest,
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
The course also covers accident management (head and dental injuries, fractures, wounds, burns and airway obstructions), common illnesses (fever, seizures, breathing difficulties and allergies), the administration of medication, and realistic simulations.
