Target audience
The IAS 1 course is intended for anyone wishing to acquire basic first-aid skills and respond effectively in emergency situations, whether in everyday life, at work or during leisure activities.
Objectives
Participants will learn to assess emergency situations, perform resuscitation techniques on adults and children, use an AED and manage various emergency scenarios, including heart attacks and strokes.
Course content
The course covers essential techniques such as alerting the emergency services, self-protection, safety, hygiene and stress management, as well as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of an AED and the treatment of various medical emergencies.

Master the first-aid basics with IAS 1 training
The IAS 1 course is designed to teach the basics of first aid, enabling participants to respond effectively to everyday or workplace emergencies. Available in the cantons of Vaud, Geneva, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Valais and Jura, it combines theory and practical training to ensure full proficiency in essential first-aid techniques.
Participants will learn to assess the scene, identify potential hazards and ensure their personal protection. The training includes essential techniques such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), safe positioning to stabilise a conscious casualty and the Heimlich manoeuvre to clear blocked airways. Situations such as open fractures, first-degree burns and shock are also covered.
In addition, modules on stress management and effective communication help participants interact more effectively with casualties and emergency services. With IAS 1, become a key responder capable of securing the scene, assessing a casualty and preventing injuries from worsening while waiting for professional help.
