Your advantages with SafetyFirst

Customised training

We value your time: courses are scheduled around your availability to minimise operational disruption.

Certified Training

We incorporate international safety standards, finely tuned to your company’s local specifics.

Why train in first aid?

Every year in Switzerland, more than 8,000 cardiac arrests occur outside hospitals. In a medical emergency, every second counts. Being trained in first aid means being able to act quickly and effectively to save a life — whether at work, at home or in a public place.

Whether you are an individual concerned about those around you or a company committed to the well-being of your employees, taking a certified first aid course is a civic and professional commitment. It is also an essential compliance tool for meeting the requirements of the Swiss legal framework (MSST requirements) relating to occupational health and safety.

Our courses cover a wide range of situations: loss of consciousness, stroke, bleeding, burns, choking, as well as the correct use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), a CAT tourniquet and the appropriate response when a child is in distress.

Training means:

  • strengthening occupational risk prevention,
  • improving collective responses to unexpected situations,
  • providing a more secure and reassuring working environment,
  • and obtaining an officially recognised certificate (SRC, IAS).

Lifesaving skills cannot be improvised. By mastering them, you become an active contributor to safety and collective resilience, whether within your family, organisation or community.

Teaching methodology and available formats

At SafetyFirst, our first aid courses are not limited to theory. They are built around an andragogical approach focused on adult learners, with priority given to hands-on experience, realistic simulations and retaining the right responses.

Our programmes are based on real-life intervention scenarios: a workplace accident, a fall in a school environment, cardiac arrest in a public place, a paediatric emergency at home… Each training sequence is designed to immerse you in a concrete situation, encouraging an effective and safe response.

Flexible formats adapted to your needs

Because your availability varies, we offer flexible formats:

  • Classroom-based: small-group sessions led by our certified instructors
  • Blended: e-learning theory (self-directed) + classroom-based practical training (supervised)
  • 100% online (for certain introductory or refresher modules)

All courses include digital resources, practical assessments, educational videos and professional equipment: CPR manikins, AED simulators and first aid kits, available in our shop.

Training that delivers practical expertise

Each participant leaves with:

  • Technical skills validated by a qualified instructor
  • A digital or printed quick-reference guide adapted to the training completed
  • An officially recognised certificate of attendance or certificate (SRC, IAS)

We place particular importance on progressive skills development, respecting each participant’s pace while ensuring the practical application of knowledge, which is essential in high-risk environments (industry, construction, educational establishments, etc.).

FAQ about our BLS-AED-SRC training courses in the canton of Vaud (Lausanne, Nyon, etc.)

1What is the difference between BLS-AED-SRC and IAS 1?

BLS-AED-SRC is a basic course focused on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). It lasts approximately 4 hours and is intended for anyone wishing to learn essential emergency lifesaving skills.

IAS 1, on the other hand, is a more comprehensive course (approximately 14 hours) covering a wide range of situations: loss of consciousness, bleeding, burns, trauma and more. It is recommended for companies, schools and public organisations.

2Which first aid training is mandatory for a company in Switzerland?

In Switzerland, MSST requirements oblige companies to ensure the safety of their employees. This includes appointing trained first aiders. The recommended course in this context is IAS 1, which meets the legal requirements for workplace first aid.

3Is first aid training recognised by the SRC?

Yes. The BLS-AED-SRC course is officially recognised by the Swiss Resuscitation Council (SRC). It follows Swiss cardiopulmonary resuscitation protocols and provides a certificate valid for two years.

4Can first aid training be completed online?

Yes, some courses are available through e-learning. SafetyFirst offers blended formats in particular: a theoretical component completed remotely and a practical component delivered in person, allowing you to combine flexibility and certification.

5Do I need to renew my first aid training? If so, how often?
  • Yes. It is recommended to renew your BLS-AED-SRC training every 2 years, in accordance with SRC recommendations. For IAS 1 and IAS 2 courses, periodic refresher training is also recommended to keep skills up to date.

6Can first aid training be organised at my company?

Absolutely. SafetyFirst offers on-site company training, delivered directly at your premises. The content can be adapted to the specific occupational risks of your sector (industry, construction, healthcare, etc.), and the organisation tailored to your requirements.

7What skills are taught in first aid training?

First aid courses teach essential lifesaving skills: assessing the victim’s condition, calling the emergency services, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using an automated external defibrillator (AED), treating bleeding, burns and fractures, placing a person in the recovery position, and responding appropriately to illness or stroke.

Preparing today, protecting tomorrow.
